Commodore 64 game spotlight 01

Posted by FightingSeraph Nov. 25, 2009 @ 7:22 PM EST

Impossible Mission (not to be confused with Mission: Impossible).

.

I was looking at NES gameplay videos days ago on YouTube when I found IM2 videos. I decided to do a search and found a complete run of this Commodore 64 classic. I used to play this back when I was four to five years old along with BurgerTime, Spy Hunter, Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, and other arcade ports. It's a damn shame that I'm one of the few that has experienced this game on this site. Here's hoping that BoM Toons, RiftMaster, Psycho Goldfish, MaelstormM, or other flash programmers checks this out; this is one game worth giving a Flash update.

Ghosts 'n Goblins C64 port

.

This was done by Mark Cooksey and Chris Butler from Elite systems. While the music captures the atmosphere, there's not enough of it and the overall game is too short. Explanation for this: They ran out of disk space. Of course, there's already a Flash remake of this on here.

Katakis

.

Manfred Trenz' attempt at an R-Type clone with some Darius and Gradius influence.

That's all for now...

Riki-Oh: Wall of Hell

Posted by FightingSeraph Nov. 14, 2009 @ 8:36 PM EST

I first found out of Riki-Oh from the Live movie review on I-Mockery, and after seeing it on there, I decided to find out more about it. Truth is, I found this Wall of Hell anime on YouTube without subtitles and sound that's out of sync. Suffice to say, I didn't like it at first because of those flaws. Then, some time later, I found the live movie via UnflinchedTesticle and I enjoyed the hell out of it. Why? One: It was one of the most accurate manga to live-action adaptations around. Two: For a Hong Kong movie, the dubbing was pretty good, but also adds to any unintended laughter one might attempt. Three: Good gore effects. Now, I found a version of Wall of Hell with subtitles and Loved it. It may not be as gory as the live action flick, but it's just as badass. Too bad nobody has subtitled Child of Destruction...

.

I'm only showing the first part of Wall of Hell, though.

I cancelled my Halloween flash

Posted by FightingSeraph Oct. 29, 2009 @ 4:20 PM EDT

I originally wanted to do a small collection of Halloween-themed cartoons, but upon hearing about Ben Spurgin's death; I cancelled it out of pity. Truth is, I usually do plenty of test animations before I do something ambitious, otherwise I get frustrated and cancel it. Believe me, I have tried to do several huge projects only to give up on them for at least five years (that's how long I have had Flash MX). However, I will make something worth submitting regardless of how original, long, or well-animated it is.
On a different note, a couple of videos I've found...

First two stages from the 0.95 demo:

Secret Stages from the complete version:

A few links and Why I like Star Ocean

Latest from ConceptArt.org

I've gotten back to playing Star Ocean, and it is still one of the best RPGs ever made. I haven't played the sequels, but judging from the videos from the PSP remake; I like the Super NES/Super Famicom original in terms of graphics, music and gameplay. Plus, it had both English and Japanese voices; one of those voices being done by Robert Belgrade from CV: Symphony of the Night, Mega Man X7, and Press Start. Why Square Enix and Tri-Ace port it to the DS is a mystery to me. However, I still like the DS port of Chrono Trigger though.

Captain Lou Albano has died.

Yep, that wrestler who did Mario in the SMB Super Show has died yesterday. Hell, I still have my tapes of that show and I planned on doing a parody of it years ago (around 2004). As cheesy as the SMB Super Show was, I liked it. Charles Martinet did a great job as that plumber, I'm starting to get a bit tired of his Mario and Luigi voices. (Fun Fact: Martinet was also the voice of Homonculus in Konami's Shadow of Memories.)

I'm back online (which in that case you don't care) with the news you need now.
Norman Borlaug has died...
http://www.consumerfreedom.com/news_de tail.cfm/headline/3988
It sucks that this little-known legend died. He helped fight worldwide hunger with his research, and the fact that groups like Greenpeace wants to undo his contributions to the world is revolting. Is it any surprise that Patrick Moore left that god awful organization? It also sucks that Pat Swayze died, but Borlaug saved more people than anyone can imagine. (he's an American hero, goddammit!)

Tire & seafood Tariffs...
http://www.cato-at-liberty.org/2009/09 /15/rep-flakes-wise-counsel-on-the-tir e-tariff/
If you are wondering why I'm commenting on this; I live in Louisiana, which has a part in stateside seafood. Protectionist policies such as tariffs help no one and harm everyone.

Immigration (illegal immigration to be exact)
http://www.freetrade.org/node/661
I don't think closing the borders will solve the illegal immigration problem. Because A: They'll find other ways to get into the country and B: It will keep illegal immigrants already within our borders in the country. It didn't work in China (Great Wall), It didn't work in Communist-bloc Europe (Iron Curtain), and it isn't working in Southeast Asia (Malaysia's border fence with Thailand).

Obama speech on Wall Street
http://www.cato-at-liberty.org/2009/09 /14/reform-needed-but-obama-plan-would -result-in-more-financial-crises-not-l ess/
Mr. President, you will end up on the next episode of YAAFM, and it will not hold back. Chances of Obama being re-elected: Zero Percent.
Notice: For those who will misinterperet this as racist; I don't hate Obama for his ethnicity, just his rivet-headed policies.

Things on my Mind Datatrack 15

Posted by FightingSeraph Sep. 4, 2009 @ 4:16 PM EDT

1. Swine Flu: Am I the only one on here who thinks that the hysteria surrounding it is bullshit!? Then again, I'm not the only one

2. Psi43: It's funny that this nimrod claims that he cares about animation when he has lots of free protection points and can't come up with any decent or original submissions himself.

3. Dustball and Gel: Here's two guys who can come up with original stuff that is of actual quality. Over There, Story Tag, Go Away, 99K, etc. are excellent stuff that probably still belongs in the Top 50. Plus, I'd like to see more reviews from these guys (seeing that they know what they are doing).

4. Kaori Yuki: When compared to Hayao Miyazaki, her stuff is excellent. In case you don't know, she created Angel Santuary and God Child.

5. Private Education: I've spent most of my high school years in a private school, and it beats the fuck out of public schools. Hell, take a look at India and Africa, they have market based education, and it's working pretty damn well.

6. President Obama: A lot of you will hate me for this, but he isn't that much different from Bush. Seriously, Obama supports a lot of the policies that W backed. (Do some goddamned research people.) Not to mention that most of the stuff he supports has been discredited worldwide. After all, if it is okay to trash Bush, then it's acceptable to trash Obama. That, of course, is called Freedom of Speech, which is protected under the First Amendment of the US Constitution. To all of those who will misinterperet this as 'racist'; I think that you need to shut up, step back, re-evaluate your lives, and realize that you are nothing but a bunch of cry-baby pussies.

7. No-God: Here's one guy who I think is underappreciated. For those who don't know, he was behind Celebemon, Crucify-Me Jesus (which needs to be remade), Impeach Clinton, etc. Back in 2000-2001, he used to make some politically incorrect shit along with EvilDave, Dom Price, Em Kaah, etc. When it came to debates, he was capable of making cogent arguments for or against something that hardly got refuted in spite of his spelling mistakes.

8. Blordow: Even though I like this guy's cartoons; I think it's time for him to quit doing piss takes and move on to more original ideas. You have to admit, he knew how to elicit laughter from lots of people.

Stuff I found from Pixeljoint

Posted by FightingSeraph Sep. 1, 2009 @ 5:41 PM EDT

For those who like pixel art, here's some stuff I have found:
Kirby Mock up
Tiki Boss idea
Mighty Mouse
NES-Style Robot Fight
Speaking of art, I tried to submit one of my pictures to the Art Portal, yet it hasn't appeared on my userpage. Maybe none of the scouts noticed it; if that is the case, then it is no big deal.
