New Games for Old systems

Posted by FightingSeraph - August 11th, 2013

GunLord (Neo Geo and Dreamcast)

.
/* */
Turrican meets Contra with a hero in a badass suit of armor.

Soulless (Commodore 64)

.
/* */
A really cool Platformer for the C64. Here's the Hardcore Gaming 101 Article: http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/soulless/soulle ss.htm

Edge Grinder (C64 and Amstrad CPC)

.
/* */
Zaku (Atari Lynx)

.
/* */
I have mentioned this long ago, but thought it was worth mentioning a second time.

Pier Solar (Sega Genesis)

.
/* */
Here's something for Genesis owners, especially those with the Sega CD. The official website: http://www.piersolar.com/

Beggar Prince (Sega Genesis)

.
/* */
Another RPG, but this is from Super Fighter Team. They have also made...

Star Odyssey

.
/* */
This game was actually made back in 1991, but wasn't released until now.

This is all I have for now, but this could be the start of something interesting.

This is exquisite material, really good finds.

Remaking turrican in any way or shape though is blasphemy to me, people would be better off just stealing the whole concept and turning it into something ellse.

It's not like kids are going to notice or care.

I suggest that you look up the fan game Hurrican. It's wonderful.

Interesting stuff.

Thanks, and don't forget to show your friends.

I've actually played the os4 demo of that which was a while ago ( last year? not sure ) friend of mine was running it through winuae and granted it looked real pretty and they got a great musician for it.

Still this sort of thing is better suited for neophytes and the unitiated, all it does for me is demonstrate how genius and far ahead of their time those titles were.

Think there's footage floating around on youtube of an orchestra doing chris huelsbeck's main theme for that title, it's worth a listen :3

Ok, will do.
