What! No Reviews?

Well, I'm not familiar with aggrotech, but this is pretty badass for a second song.

Instruments: I dig the use of a synth to simulate a vibraphone. Plus, the other synths were also well done considering that they convey the dark mood that you were trying to get. Oh, and good job on the percussion selection.
Composition: It may not be the most varied song when it comes to this, but I found this to be catchy none-the-less. Also worth noting is the use of a breakbeat with a more conventional four on the floor.
Other: There isn't anything else that I can comment on really.

The Good:
-Nice sound
-Original
-Good composition
-Reasonable filesize
-Great tone
-Clever use of a breakbeat

The not-so-good:
-Could have used more variety

Overall: RedChain, here's a nine from me. (4.5/5)

Very nice!

I am going to say that I am not very familiar with Hardstyle aside from what DJ T3chnic had posted here. However, I do know good music when I hear it. This site needs a section for this and Hardcore. Aside from that...

Instrumentation: You did a great job on the synths, bassline, and percussion. They didn't overpower each other due to clever mastering choices. Plus, I also liked what you did with the piano. Oh, and the sound fit that mood that you were aiming for.
Composition: For a first attempt I have to say that you did a great job at this. Namely, the 3:50 part with the piano complemented that ominous atmosphere that you were trying to obtain. Furthermore, it wasn't too repetitive nor too changing.
Other: The only problem with this is why hasn't Death Ink included this in his Pico Radio update? This song has Halloween written all over it!

The Good:
-Original
-Great sound
-Nice composition
-Excellent mastering
-Reasonable filesize

The Bad:
-No proper hardstyle section, but that's a fault with the audio portal.

Overall: Here's a ten from me. (5/5)

This has to be one of the best ambient/chill out songs on here, and it shows.

I reviewed this when you first submitted this, but I'll rewrite since you had to resubmit due to zero bombers. Plus, it's finally in the proper category this time.

Instrumentation: You did an excellent job on the piano and strings for this one, and the synth is just excellent. Did I mention that the sparse use of vocals were a neat addition, as they complemented the song quite nicely.
Composition: In addition to the instruments, the composition of this piece is just heavenly! Whoever zero-bombed this when you first submitted it must have REALLY POOR taste in music. It takes a delicate hand to make something like this work.
Other: There is simply nothing else to mention aside from the mastering, equalizing, and other audio production techniques that I'm still learning about.

What I did like:
-Great sound
-Excellent composition
-Versatile
-Original
-In the proper category this time

What I didn't Like:
-The fact that you had to resubmit due to zero-bombers.

Overall: A ten from me a second time go round is appropriate for this. (5/5)

I can see this being used in multiple submissions.

You did a great job on this, but that would be too trite for a review. I'm surprised that you haven't collaborated with various others in the cartoon, movie, and game sections of this site. (You should consider that since I recommended you to Cherry-Cupid and SpikeVallentine.) With that out of the way...

Instrumentation: Those sounds are very pleasing to my ears. You did a great job on the pads, synth, and effects on this song, which would be a great audio cue in a movie or a game submission.
Composition: It's always great to have an ambient song with actual melodies, which is a stark contrast to a lot of the dark psytrance stuff that I've been listening to on YouTube. You sure have a way with finding the right notes/chords. Something that is not easy unless you know what you're doing.
Other: It may be a big file for a song like this, but it's original and well-executed. (and it's the latter that counts.)

The Good:
-Original
-Actual melodies
-Nice sound
-Good atmosphere
-Versatile

The Bad:
-The fact that electronica haters will still bash this regardless of quality, but they can suck it.

Overall: Mich, I think that a ten from me was needed. (5/5)

Mich responds:

Hey, thanks for the review!

I don't actively make much music any more, full-time jobs tend to get in the way of that, so I'm not sure I'd have the time to actively collaborate with movie/game makers. Thanks though, that's a big compliment!

Instrumentation: You might be surprised to know I only used 3 instruments in this one, one for the main lead, one for pads, and one for that lick of piano near the end. The "big" noisy stuff was done by routing the high end of the frequency spectrum of the melody synth to another channel and adding a lot of delay with feedback and distortion to it.

Composition: I can't say I agree with me "knowing what I'm doing", I tend to just fiddle around a bit to try and find something that sounds nice, trying to find the right atmosphere. I think I could say I cheated a little, using basically just the black keys + F; I find that that makes it easy to create nice atmospheres.

Other: The big file is because I exported it at 320kbps, I like to keep in as much quality as possible :)

The bad: I don't care much if people hate it; they don't have to listen. I try to make music that I like, and it's always nice if other people that manage to stumble onto it like it as well!

Thanks a lot for the nice review, it's much appreciated.

Very melodic with a nice emotional tone!

I see where you're coming from on unfinished/neglected project files. (I have a lot of Flash stuff that hasn't been completed.) Plus, it's interesting to see versions of this in different genres, which is nice. Enough with this, on with the review...

Instruments: You did a great job on programming the synths and the drums. They were neither abrasive or weak and got the point across. It really shows that you have the ears for pleasing sound. In other words, it had a bittersweet mood that I liked.
Composition: This is how melodic house got its name, especially considering that house was the first genre of electronic music to come about. I enjoyed the melodies that you had going on in this, which combined with the sounds, made that aforementioned tone that you were aiming for. Did I mention that you had a nice rhythm to boot?
Other: As for suggestions for how to improve, I suggest studying the right material. Namely, the following:
-Black Sabbath
-'80s Techno
-Infected Mushroom
-Astral Projection
-Ka-Sol
-The Ramones
-The music to R-Type Delta and Final
-Black Flag
-The Misfits
-Cab Calloway (and the Blues Brothers soundtrack)
-Prodigy
-Acid House
There's plenty of stuff from them and it helps to have multiple influences.

The Good:
-Original
-Very melodic
-Great mastering
-Excellent synth
-Nice tone

The Bad:
-The fact that it's technically a work-in-progress, but what you have is still great.

Overall: Here's another ten from me, and have you considered making the following after you're done with the variations of this? (Psytrance, Darkcore, Jungle, Tech DnB, Hard Trance, Gabber, Drumstep, Darkstep, and Hard House)

Nice work Gloony!

There aren't enough Psytrance songs on here and this is one of the better ones. Infected Mushroom, Ka-Sol, and Astral Projection are personal favorites of mine, and think that the audio portal can learn something from them. Now, let me explain why I liked this...

Instrumentation: Nice use of what appears to be a tambourine in the percussion, but that could be a regular hi-hat cymbal used. Your synthesized sounds are well suited to the psychedelic genre of trance. Plus, the bassline, while similar to other songs, was also good.
Composition: I think those two years you spent on this paid off because this was fantastic in this department. The kick near the end of this was clever, and you put quite a bit of thought into the melodies/harmonies. I don't know what else to say other than that I was getting down to this.
Other: You did a great job on the mastering and equalization. I might have to work on that, but don't know if Acid has support for EQ plugins. (I don't have anything worthwhile, but will someday.) While the filesize may be big for the length, that won't affect the score.

[+]
-Mostly original
-Well-composed
-Great rhythm
-Nice synth setup
-Well mastered and equalized

[-]
-Big filesize
-The bassline--while good--is too similar to other psy basslines

Overall: Here's a ten from me, Gloony. (5/5)

Another review from me.

It's always nice to hear a song in the techno section that actually sounds like techno. Would it not kill the staff to allocate sections for Hardcore and Hardstyle? With that out of the way...

Instrumentation: I definitely like the synth sounds that were used in this song. It may have a bit of Dance-type electronica in there, but still has that feel. In addition, you did a great job on the mastering as well.
Composition: For something that was quite spontaneous, the scoring to this was pretty good though it could have used a bit more variation in terms of the melodies. Then again, that would have made a (mostly) negative impact on this song's versatility.
Other: Nothing that I can really complain/comment about.

[+]
-Original
-Versatile
-Reasonable file size
-Nice sound
-Great mastering

[-]
-Could have been a bit more melodic

Overall: A nine would be appropriate for this. (4.5/5)

MrRedstone responds:

Thanks a lot! I really appreciate your reviews. It's always great to read reviews that go into depth and offer good critique. Thanks again.

Not bad!

I found this to be catchy, but wanted a bit more out of this. Allow me to explain...

Instrumentation: I really like how you mixed a bit of industrial in this, along with that drum kit. They were complementary to the hard aspects of this. Hell, anyone could mistake this for hardcore gabber music with that synth used.
Composition: It may not be up to par with many of the better trance songs in my favorites list, but you sure have some composition skills behind this. However, there were times where it felt repetitive, but not too monotonus.
Other: The only other problem with this is the tempo, which seems to be quite fast. On the other hand, there have been trance songs that are faster than 145 Beats-per-minute.

What was good:
-Original
-Nice use of industrial beats and a drum set.
-Good, ominous tone

What needs improving:
-The composition, while far from bad, could have used a bit more variation.
-Due to the sounds used and tempo; people could mistake this for hardcore/gabber.

Overall: Here's an eight from me, Psyce.

Psyce responds:

Thanks for the review
Nice to hear such kind words from fellow artist

Actually I don't have this project anymore, so it is what it is

And sorry for the long answering time

Hmm, this is going to be difficult for me to examine, but I'll be objective.

Sound of your voice: While your voice is kind of appealing; I have to agree that you need a pop filter and to stand back from your microphone a bit. In addition, I would like to see another voice demo from you showing what other voices you're capable of because a Youtube excerpt isn't going to help in the long run.
Actual acting skills: While this may be an excerpt, but that doesn't compensate for how poorly acted out this was. To remedy this, I suggest that you watch golden age cartoons, Beast Wars, Spicy City, Spawn: The Animated Series, and DC comics animated movies just to study how the likes of the following do things: Mel Blanc, Billy Bletcher, Jack Mercer, Scott McNeil, David Kaye, Keith David, Ian Corlett, Ralph Bakshi, etc.
Other: Good choice on not going the HD route on this, but that's the only other merit this has.

{+}
-Somewhat appealing voice
-Reasonable filesize

{-}
-Poorly acted
-The fact that this is a YouTube excerpt and does little to prove what you're capable of.
-Recording issues

Overall: As much as I want to have you on my potential casting list; this doesn't seem to be very convincing. Here's a six out of ten from me for now. (3/5)

Another review from me.

Yep, I've been wanting to review another one of your songs. This has to be one of the more interesting D-n-B songs that I have ever listened to. It may not be as intense as what Xenith800 has done (Sentient, Against God Mars, Sun God, and They Rise Again), but you did a great job on the atmospheric aspects of it. Allow me to elaborate...

Instrumentation: You did a great job on the drums, the synth, and the effects that were used in this. They really contributed to that atmosphere that you were aiming for. However, the bass was kind of loud, but not enough to drown it out.
Composition: In spite of this genre being percussion-based, you did a swell job on this part. I mean, there were actual melodies going on with this. In other words, this aspect was well done.
Other: While the filesize may be huge for a song this long, that won't affect the score. It's the improperly mastered bass that's the only thing preventing this from being top-notch.

The Good:
-Original
-Great instrumentation
-Nice tone
-Excellent composition

The Bad:
-The bass was kind of loud

Overall: Here's a nine from me, and I think it's time for you to update your icon & profile pic.

Box-Killa responds:

:D Yeah the bass is a personal preference of mine

Thanks for the review!

I've been on here for over a decade and have a high level, so fucking what? Regarding my MSN and Trillian accounts: Request to be added.
