The unexplored material for parody.

Posted by FightingSeraph - August 4th, 2007

It saddens me that when it comes to parodies, sprite films, and other related media; there isn't enough thought that goes in to the choice of games, tv shows, etc. Of course I'm not saying that spoofing something popular isn't bad, especially when it is well-made such as FlameZero's MMZ: The Last Conquest and Alvin-Earthworm's SMBZ. On the other hand, why is it that only a handful of people are taking the time to find obscure games such as Splatterhouse, Baraduke/Alien Sector, or Xardion. What about obscure cartoons such as the Pole Position toon made in 1984? I see a lot of potential in spoofing the obscure that if the right ammount of people took the time to be creative, there would be a lot more collections on NG. Hell, Sailor Moon has only a few spoofs if you use the search function, whereas Naruto has a shitload of parodies to the point where it isn't even funny. As for me, I have a parody of the Pac-Man cartoon that I haven't worked on for at least two years (I'm lazy), a taunt at the SMB Super Show involving the Mario gang in Afganistan after Osama Bin Koopa, and I plan on going after TouHou, Phalanx, Darius, and so on.
