Here's a little invention that Max and Dave Fleischer created that used actual models built in forced perspective to add a sense of depth in their old '30s and '40s cartoons. It preceded CGI 3D by at least 45 to 50 years. *Personal note: I got more enjoyment out of what the Fleischer brothers did during that time over Disney, but Disney had some good stuff as well at that time.
