I have to agree with what these guys have said, and that song that Carla did was funny! Not as funny as JonH2O or Weird Al, but I like the satirical aspect of it. Did I mention that I'm currently working on an Obama satire?

Thoughts on the Video extention:

This came sooner than expected, and on one hand I'm elated yet have a few complaints:
1. I don't see much of a point to the whole HD thing since there's not much of a difference between standard and so-called 'high' definition. Honestly, I can't tell the difference between a song rendered at 224-540 Kbit per second from one exported at 112-192 Kbps aside from the former having a MUCH bigger filesize.
2. I'm not too big on the whole abuse After Effects for all its worth. Only a scant few should be allowed to use it. (Chakra-X and Proxicide.)
3. I was wondering if it would be ok for Doomhammr, Fraser Agar (FarFromSubtle), and Marti Escageda to make use of that extention provided their Live stuff has actual effort put into it?
4. Toonboom may be great to have, but most of it's special effects can be recreated in flash with some actionscript ingenuity. On the other hand, at least it doesn't have the stability issues that Flash CS3-5.5 have when Adobe bought Macromedia. (I'm sticking with Flash MX.)
5. I see no justification to kill Flash off considering it's versatility.

Here's something that a lot of flash game developers should check out if they want to do something different or a real challenge.

Other news: I was thinking of trying my luck at doing music, but can only do so much with Acid 6. Therefore, I was pondering on which of these programs to get:
-Acid 7 Pro
-Cubase
-Fruity Loops
-Reason
Speaking of Music: AndY J's Archives-This contains Andy J's older work including songs he didn't upload here.

I know that a lot of you will hate me for doing another one of these along with those who will appreciate it. It's been a long time since the last one, but it needs to be done.

1. Zero Bombings: This is one problem that I would like to see remedied. It would be perfectly understandable if the submission in question were made by a self-righteous, self-absorbed fuckhead or was unworthy of the high ratings; but Timmy Dope, Xarnor, Eyelids Pie, and Spikerman 87 (who left because two of his Zelda flash cartoons got blammed)? If you're going to vote on a submission, do so on the content and not on the medium in which it was presented or the person who made it.
2. Scoot (Flash cartoonist): I'm kind of in the middle when it comes to him. On one hand, his Zelda cartoons are well-directed, albeit a rehash of Ocarina of Time. On the other hand, his attempts at being original aren't really original (Whookos, A. E. Chronicles). Look, I can't compare him to the Weekenders since I stopped watching Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon years ago; but I can compare Whookos with College University by Mike and Andy Parker. Then again, the same comparison can be correlated with The U, which is also similar. Of course, I hated Street Fighter Club although the blame can be attributed to Rina-Chan.
3. Dot Dot Dot: Am I the only person who did not find this funny at all? I Mean, this is no different from Intelligent Critique by Waldemar Schuur, but with better sound quality, tweened text, and that W-P-S flash had me laughing throughout the whole thing. By contrast, both the soundbyte and the animation were boring as fuck. It kills me that this overhyped flash got shitloads of free high scores and the number one spot in the top 50 for weeks on end over more deserving cartoons.
4. Tarboy: Am I the only person on here that didn't find this to be either good or groundbreaking at all? Sure, it had stylish tween animation, but considering that Madness, McFretN, and GoshaDole were doing that for years; I can't credit James Lee for being the first. However, that is not why I'm complaining about this. I thought the story was horrible and the voices were very annoying. To elaborate, the story comes off as some kid who just saw Stick Slayer and decided to take its premise and remove any sense of tension or credibility by having a character that was pretty much invincible and kills its enemies in one hit. Everything about this was extremely contrived; Tarboy's origin, the fights, and the end. Plus, the evil businessman/corporation trope has been run into the ground over the years, which added to its intolerable quality. Finally, the music didn't set any mood and would it not have killed them to use Waterflame's song Control: Damage, AndY J's Fallen, Xenith800's Sentient, or anything by Nemesis Theory?
5. Nin10doh to the 64th Power: This was a case of "great animation, yet it sucked hard" just like the last two. To Kirbopher's merit, I am appreciative of using overlooked subjects (Chrono Trigger, Bomberman, Mischief Makers, and Diddy Kong Racing), but the shit-bad writing and voice acting killed it. Hell, not even Nalem, Harry Partridge, Matt Mercer, and Lenkobiscuit could save it from sucking hairy cock. And this is coming from somebody who usually likes video game flash, but only if it's a good one. Plus, it doesn't help that a)Legendary Frog is still an inept, unfunny dipshit, b)Artist Gamer Gal has absolutely no knowledge of comedic timing, but is convinced that she does, and c) Richie of Perfect Kirby fame draws the ugliest women I have ever seen. In other words, GuitarmasterX7, Zeurel, and Psychicpebble were correct to give it such low scores. Speaking of the latter...
6. Psychic pebble: Although I haven't seen all of his cartoons, from what I have seen; he's pretty funny. Namely those Bo Burnham music videos he did along with Hard-on Potter and those Skyrim skits. Plus, I enjoy reading many of his reviews, and think that a lot of people could use his kind of insight.
7. Color Theory: I think people on here could take a hint from Egoraptor, Gonzossn, Adam Phillips, Ferguson Winston, Sunny GOES, Trungles, Jake Hollander, Spillkaidah, and ConceptArt.org by studying color theory. Take a look at old cartoons, fine art, Watership Down, Rene Laloux's movies, or some books on the subject. Too many bright colors are hell on the eyes, and too many dark colors are ugly. Of course, even people with that knowledge have made the occasional bad color selection.
8. Rambojoe and Kalabor 106: I have to admit, it takes a very careful and delicate hand to make such overused subjects like Mega Man and Sonic funny these days. These guys made something fucking hilarious whereas others would have done MM Short Blast and Sonic Gut Feeling very badly. Also, Contra Rampage, CV Whip Crack, and Kinect Rage had me laughing hysterically unlike the NiN10Doh collabs. I hope they look up some books on basic drawing techniques as a means to improve.

Yep, it's been twelve years since the last leap year and I'm elated that the staff has fixed many of the things that I didn't like about this design. Now if only they brought Assassin back in full force...

Yowp-A really neat site regarding early Hanna-Barbera cartoons.

Vote for Gary Johnson!

Update: John K.'s Cartoon lessons

Well, the new look just came and just for that I have two templates that I made for those in need of an Icon or a Display picture:

Icon template

Display picture template

My Opinion: it's slick, but could have used a few minor adjustments:

1. I would have preferred the Classic Portal be a separate button rather than part of a drop-down menu.

2. Slots for MSN, Yahoo IM, ICQ, Skype, and Trillian should have been added.

3. The animation that plays in the Classic Portal tends to lag on older computers. My advice: cut down on the filter usage.

4. The BG wallpaper may be nice, but it doesn't really contribute to anything.

Update: Here's some things I forgot to mention...

5. The "Other Submissions By (Insert username here)" was taken out for no apparent justification.

6. The new auras for animators/artists/musicians/game designers don't have the versatility of the old Light/Dark/Neutral/Evil/Fab system.

7. The Voting system no longer keeps track of votes anymore.

On the other hand, there are things I do like:

1. People can now read any user's art reviews.

2. The new icons & display pics are a nice refinement.

Finally...

Android Arts on Spaceship design

Hurrican

A really cool Turrican tribute game with excellent-looking pre-rendered graphics that I shown to Zanroth. It can be found here

Gods' Requiem

Norse-mythology inspired shmup.

Gemini Rue

Here's a point-and-click adventure game that features music by Nathan Allen Pinard

.kkrieger

Imagine a 200 gigabyte game with a 96 kilobyte filesize, which this FPS by .theprodukkt is. This must've inspired Sosker to do Infinivaders. Warning: this game requires a fast computer due to use of procedural generation.

Alltynex

A really nice shmup for Japan's equivalent to the Amiga, FM Towns.

Synaesthete

It's Rez meets Robotron!

Genetos

Yes, I know that the premise of this is strikingly similar to Pix-Evo, but this still worth mentioning.

Rayxanber

This space shooter for the FM Towns was known for its dash ability, and as an added bonus:

Rayxanber 2

Rayxanber 3

Enjoy!

First, the Stop Online Piracy idiocy:

As a libertarian, I think this is just insane, immoral, impractical, and unconstitutional. What ever happened to the the copyright/patent laws that were signed into law back in the 1880s? Look, I'm all for property rights, but the DMCA and similar legislation are just beyond the pale. Is it any surprise that a) there are so many conspiracy theorists about (which I don't support at all) and b) why I support the Libertarian Party and the Cato Institute. Sure, it may hurt the unimaginative little peckers, but it also hurts the following:
Starogre and his friend Spillkaidah
Nick Dobkin (RPGsROK)
Catoblepas
David Firth
Dave Lovelace
Dean Packis (Apocalypse Cartoons)
Eyelids Pie
Mister Scoops
Sunny GOES
Jake Hollander (Lazy Mode Comics)
Celx Requin
That's just a small yet sizable list of examples of original flash/music guys on here. However, they are also vulnerable to this as well. Finally, here's something from the Cato Institute that I think everyone on here should read: http://www.cato-at-liberty.org/how-wou ld-sopa-be-used/
Serious shit like this is why a drastic reduction in government is sorely needed.

Second, Photoshop alternatives:

If you want really good alternatives to Photoshop, but hardly have any disposable income? Here's a few programs I found from the Pixelation forums:
Project Dogwaffle's software
Gimp
Ultimate Paint
Paint.net-Warning! This requires a fast computer in order to get this to run properly.
Eclipse GraFX 2
XPaint-Here's something for Mac users.
mtPaint
However, many of them need to be bought, but luckily no higher than 150 USD.

Finally, here's some nice tutorials from that same Pixelation thread:
Android Blues' Visual Perception
Android Arts' drawing/painting guide
His step-by-step digital painting tutorial.

That's it, I'm done here. Edit: Here's Rick's Adventure Legends 371 for anybody interested:

It's great that he finally got to finish that part, but was it really necessary to include boring overused Stan Bush music?

In case you haven't noticed, I signed up to ConceptArt.org back in 2008 when Zanroth told me about it during an MSN conversation. If anyone wants to look, here's the entire thread:

I hardly get the kind of thoughtful, precise critique on there when compared to the reviews I write on here. This really fucking SUCKS! While I have noticed some improvement in over three years on there; there are times when I feel like that my time studying Loomis and Hogarth's books--along with drawing the things that I see--haven't made the impact that I expected. However, I'm not the only one who has felt this way; there's a whole shitload of contributors who have probably had these kind of feelings. On the other hand, I know that must keep going because I sure as shit don't want to end up like certain overrated flash cartoonists. For Randis, Hoi Mun (Rezeroth), Arne (Prometheus), Hunter Killer, Pigeonkill, Robogabo, Algenpfleger, Hideyoshi, Sammy Hall, Pavel Sokov, Hanny Honeymoon, Hyptosis, Rabbit Run, Dan Bodinof, Velocity Kendall, Lt. Plissken, Klaus Reinbach, Quigleyer, Davi Blight, and Jason Manley: Thanks, and I will keep going.

Rick's Adventure Legends: Mega Man Vs. Volgon
369

370

Yep, this is what MaelstormM is still working on. Plus, you have to admit he's one of the most persistent people on here, along with the fact he used Poser for most of his 3D stuff. On the other hand, I think it's time for him to stop using mainstream music and got some Audio Portal musicians to make some custom music.

Magical Doropie/The Krion Conquest

Vic Tokai's attempt at a Mega Man clone. However, unlike the Blue Bomber, this game is completely linear and you start with all powers. First mentioned in I-Mockery affiliate Encyclopedia Obscura.

Psycho War/Psychic War
Game Gear

Master System

MSX 2 (Really obscure PC)

This can also be considered another Mega Man clone, but there's enough differences in this to separate this from Capcom's series.

The MSX 2 port of Final Fantasy

I, or anyone else outside of Japan, never expected Square to make a port of their NES game onto an obscure system such as this. Here's another piece of trivia: The first two Metal Gear games were first released onto the MSX before the NES versions were made.

Ralph Bakshi's Heavy Traffic

Easily my favorite of all of Bakshi's animated features.

Fantastic Planet

One of the most bizarre animated movies I have ever seen, and that didn't help that I only saw the end on Cinemax years ago.

Plague Dogs

From the same people who did Watership Down comes a movie that's even more disturbing. For an animated film that had a style that's out of place for the medium, the animation was pretty well done.
