Reminds me of Gargoyle's Quest (assuming that I'm not the only person who's familiar with it).

I definitely enjoy your usage of warm colors for this with subtle cool highlights. To be honest, I'm not very familiar with your stuff so far except for that SOPA Got Fingered game. Aside from that, it's very appreciative of you to use some negative space, which helped out with the staging. I think more people should learn something about clear staging/composition on here. By the way, is that Telebubby Fun Land remake done yet?

One more thing, don't review your own work unless you want to give people the wrong impression.

You sure know your stuff! ( I am not being sarcastic)

Not bad for something you made six years ago.

A lot of people may know you for your music, but you can also draw and to an extent animate? With that out of the way...

I really like that rough, but solid line work for this and your other pic Neon City. However, I think the outlines could have been thicker to make it pop out more. That and the colors could have used a less airbrushed look. Of course, the shading is also nice. I bet if you study up on animating with your current skill level, you'd be as big in the (Flash) portal as you are in the Audio portal.

Waterflame responds:

thanks alot! thats inspirering to hear :D i do wanna get back to those roots aswell some day

I have to agree with what Xyrophobia had said.

You have officially joined my favorite artists lists. First of all your style shows that you are a man with impeccable skills. I mean, there are no flaws with the anatomy, proportions, etc. Plus, I love what you did with the hair, even if that takes forever. Second, you have one incredibly vivid imagination to boot, which is a good sign in my book. The lack of genitalia when compared with your last two pictures may be off-putting, but this is still well done. By the way, have you considered collaborating with people in the other portals? (Read: Musicians, animators, writers, game designers, etc.)

Trungles responds:

Thank you so much for the thoughtful response! I chose not to include the genitalia and the nipples for a couple reasons - I wanted to make the comic accessible to people who might be put off by explicit nudity, and I also didn't want to overstate particulars in the details of the body. My spot illustrations tend to include everything, just not the comic panels.

And I totally didn't know I could collaborate with folks here like that! I'll have to look into it!

Proof that MS paint has it's uses. With that out of the way, I really like the textures that this has. It takes a lot of balls to do something this good with MS Paint, which a lot of people hate for various reasons. However, the background color, while not blinding, could have been chosen better.

Hildebrandt responds:

Thanks, man.
I wanted the background to look repulsive :)

Not bad at all!

I have to admit that you not only have a supposedly good drawing skills, but the balls to draw Popeye in that style. The structure is great and so is the rendering (though the shadows on his right arm on the right drawing seems off to me), but I think you could have taken a few elements from Popeye's creator Elzie Segar: A bigger chin and slimmer upper arms. In addition, it's nice to see something finished from you, and I would like for you to go back to all of those unfinished movies that you submitted and finish them up. Of course, I think that your stuff would be even better if you got the following:
-A tablet
-Books on anatomy, perspective, lighting, and animation.
-Sound Forge (so you can make your own sound effects rather than rip them from YouTube videos).
Take it from someone who's studying basic drawing skills.

Now that's sprite animation!

I have to admit, I first found out about you from your custom sprites years before you started voice acting for flash movies. They were as amazing back then as this one is today, and it's nice to see more sprites from you. When it comes to the individual sprites, each one was well-drawn with excellent color selection. This, of course, shows that you are a man with excellent skills and good taste with an underused subject like Ulala from Space Channel 5. As for her dance, did you use a reference or improvised it? Either way, it still looks excellent. As much as I like your sprite stuff, you aren't as special as you were back then with the likes of Konjak, Rokkan Saturn, Android Arts, Adam Tierney, and Kenny Fejer. Otherwise, it's perfect and I would like to see more of your sprite making skills in the near future.

Nice value practice!

I have to say, I think more people ought to try drawing on a black background when the opportunity rises for it helps with their light/dark values. As for the design itself, I can see it as either a wearable robot or a hazard protection suit. Plus, nice use of red to break up the monotony. Maybe I ought to try this out sometime...

This is actually not bad at all.

When compared to most Sonic-related fan art, this easily one of the better pieces. However, the thumb on the left hand and some of the glow effects seem to be misplaced. As for Emanhattan, I may be for tough critiques, but at least the likes of Gel and myself are fair when it comes to criticism. Besides, hasn't anyone told you to use proper capitalization when writing a review? However, seeing that Sonic the Hedgehog has supposedly gone to shit after 2003, you're going to get flak regardless of how good or bad it is. Other than that, it's better than most stuff involving that hedgehog.

Great, but could use more contrast.

So far, I see no flaws in the anatomy, perspective, idea, and design. However, the shade of pink used for the background could have used more contrast from the figure. I found it hard on the eyes. If you are really that out of practice, you should study anatomy and perspective for a bit.

I agree with what Starogre said.

The design looks awesome, but at the same time, it's hard to tell what is what. I remember playing that Battle Sabre game demo years ago, and I thought about doing a space shooter with a similar concept. Plus, I like that orange-yellow color that you used because actual yellow would have been hell on the eyes.

I've been on here for over a decade and have a high level, so fucking what? Regarding my MSN and Trillian accounts: Request to be added.
