You captured the surrealist aesthetic quite nicely.

I don't know why I write so few art reviews, but here's one from me.

The colors and textures are really well thought out and clever use of square brushes. In addition, the anatomy is adept, and the same goes for the perspective. It really shows how much you know your shit. That and your judicious use of filters.

cherry-cupid responds:

Thanks, yea. I do need a few more texture brushes; sadly i painted this on the laptop which doesn't have as much power =/

Excellent use of color!

In addition to that, I have to say that your anatomy, construction, perspective, values, and detailing are spot on. This could easily be one of the best mixtures of art and pornography I have ever seen. Oh, and I suggested to Ivan Aedler* to check your stuff out. Um thank You??

You've progressed nicely!

This model definitely feels right at home in a N64 or Dreamcast game. For 1,800 polygons, it sure looks good considering the limitations. Hell, I also like how you separately modeled each of her fingers. As for Blender, I've been thinking about giving it a go in spite of my troubled inexperience with GMax. (I'm better at 2D drawing than 3D modeling.) On an unrelated note, I think more people on ConceptArt.org should contribute here and vice versa.

Hyptosis responds:

Thanks dude. It's tough but I try to do as much as I can and never shy away from anything. I think the best way to learn is to jump in with both feet. Also yeah, I've kind of fallen out of love with CA though. They were getting too elitist for my taste and I got mixed up in that big stink with Corriero and just never really went back. I still update my sketchbook over there, but it is essentially ignored.

Hmm...

I'm going to be honest with you that this is not the best pixel art I have seen. However, you do have some nice techniques regarding the background texture. Here's the faults I see with this:
1. It needs a sense of form and the construction is weak.
2. The shading is badly done as it doesn't follow the form. I mean, it's mostly straight ramps except for some areas.
3. Some of the colors look garish.
Recommendations: I will suggest that you study basic drawing principles for a period of time, along with color theory.

Overall: Here's a six from me. (3/5)

N1nj4X responds:

Thank you for your honest critique.

Nice.

I usually don't review art for some reason, but decided to review another one of your submissions. As for the dipshits who give your stuff low scores: I'm all for constructive criticism, but not for assholic nimrods who think they know everything. (Here's hoping that the All Fads Die crew gives them the brutal ass-kicking they deserve.) With that being said, I really like your usage of negative space, along with your nice posing and colors. However, this could use some shades and tints just to give it more "punch." Finally, you did an excellent job on the linework, which shows a sense of hierarchy. Here's a nine from me. (4.5/5)

LovelyKouga responds:

Haha oh don't worry about them - the fact they're taking the time to look at and comment on my stuff is actually quite funny! Since they're not even making suggestions on how I could improve, their comments aren't worth reading.

Thank you so much for a well-rounded comment! I think one day I will add my usual shading and highlights, because you're right, it would add some depth, wouldn't it?

Reminds me of Gargoyle's Quest (assuming that I'm not the only person who's familiar with it).

I definitely enjoy your usage of warm colors for this with subtle cool highlights. To be honest, I'm not very familiar with your stuff so far except for that SOPA Got Fingered game. Aside from that, it's very appreciative of you to use some negative space, which helped out with the staging. I think more people should learn something about clear staging/composition on here. By the way, is that Telebubby Fun Land remake done yet?

One more thing, don't review your own work unless you want to give people the wrong impression.

deathink responds:

You sure know your stuff! ( I am not being sarcastic)

Not bad for something you made six years ago.

A lot of people may know you for your music, but you can also draw and to an extent animate? With that out of the way...

I really like that rough, but solid line work for this and your other pic Neon City. However, I think the outlines could have been thicker to make it pop out more. That and the colors could have used a less airbrushed look. Of course, the shading is also nice. I bet if you study up on animating with your current skill level, you'd be as big in the (Flash) portal as you are in the Audio portal.

Waterflame responds:

thanks alot! thats inspirering to hear :D i do wanna get back to those roots aswell some day

I have to agree with what Xyrophobia had said.

You have officially joined my favorite artists lists. First of all your style shows that you are a man with impeccable skills. I mean, there are no flaws with the anatomy, proportions, etc. Plus, I love what you did with the hair, even if that takes forever. Second, you have one incredibly vivid imagination to boot, which is a good sign in my book. The lack of genitalia when compared with your last two pictures may be off-putting, but this is still well done. By the way, have you considered collaborating with people in the other portals? (Read: Musicians, animators, writers, game designers, etc.)

Trungles responds:

Thank you so much for the thoughtful response! I chose not to include the genitalia and the nipples for a couple reasons - I wanted to make the comic accessible to people who might be put off by explicit nudity, and I also didn't want to overstate particulars in the details of the body. My spot illustrations tend to include everything, just not the comic panels.

And I totally didn't know I could collaborate with folks here like that! I'll have to look into it!

Proof that MS paint has it's uses. With that out of the way, I really like the textures that this has. It takes a lot of balls to do something this good with MS Paint, which a lot of people hate for various reasons. However, the background color, while not blinding, could have been chosen better.

Hildebrandt responds:

Thanks, man.
I wanted the background to look repulsive :)

Still the same, but that isn't a bad thing.

That is a nice design and I like the gritty look of it. However, when designing your next robots, you should try other types of bodies, legs, arms, structures, etc. I also like that frame you did for it, too.

Zanroth responds:

Actually, this one was mostly for getting used to my new tablet.
Glad you liked it, though ^^

I've been on here for over a decade and have a high level, so fucking what? Regarding my MSN and Trillian accounts: Request to be added.
