Here's some songs I made with Acid back in 2006, and since the Audio mods don't allow songs made out of loops; I decided to upload them to my dump.
http://www.newgrounds.com/dump/item/aa3b110c31e1 2e334703fb76450b9219
Warning: this is a huge download, but I had to get these off of my chest.

Tests I did with the Synth1 VST:

Said VST can be found at:

As for LMMS, I have made quite a few projects, but only a few were actually decent. Plus, they're in .ogg format, so they require music players that support that format. They'll be added when I get the chance.

I thank Computer112 for discovering this Linux equivalent of FL studio and as for the program: I like it, but it has a tendency to crash from time to time. (A problem that plagues open source software, though Apache's Open Office is the epitome of quality assurance.) Here's some tutorials by Metalx1000 on YouTube:

Part One

Part Two

Part Three

Part Four

Speaking of Audio tutorials, I noticed that many of this site's musicians have made flash at some point. (Examples: Nav, StealthNice, Waterflame, DJ Harlock, Xarnor, ParagonX9, SmokeShow, and TheComet just to name a few.) Would it be nice if they teamed up and made a very comprehensive tutorial on FL Studio, Cubase, Reason, Studio One, Live, etc. (I already know that Nav did an FL Studio tutorial on trance drums and basslines, but want something more robust.)

Yep, Interplay--a brand name that hasn't been noteworthy for at least ten years--has teamed up with Gameloft to bring back the short-lived '90s icon. Unfortunately, the updates in this version weren't for the better. Judging from the video I posted, the animation seems off, the use of After Effects was unnecessary, the voice acting is weak, and for some reason, Interplay turned down Tommy Tallarico's offer to use his soundtrack. Personally, I prefer the Super NES version for the following reasons:
1. It had nicer colors than the Genesis/MD/Sega CD and DOS/Windows versions.
2. It had better sound effects, but not as many voice samples as the other two.
3. The music, while not redbook quality, was much more fitting.
However, the CD versions have their advantages:
1. Improved animation
2. More levels
3. A bonus video with Doug TenNapel himself

As for the whole Hi-Def craze, I'm so sick of things being presented in HD just for the sake of it. (Ditto for After Effects and ToonBoom.) I'd rather take something well done in standard definition over something presented in HD but sucks hard.

Here's some stuff based off of Touhou Project that I found on YouTube:

Touhou Ouendan (Cheering Squad)

Here's a neat little music video with a kick ass song playing with it. To be honest, many of the characters in this look adorable (especially Koishi Komeiji). However, the 3D and Particle effects look out of place similar to an average episode of South Park that was made after the movie.

Chen's Gensokyo March

Another great music video that involves one of Yukari's Shikigami.

Convictor Yamaxanadu

One of the best examples of industrial metal around.

Rampaging Sakuya

One of the better Touhou flashes that wasn't made by Coffgirl. Plus, Remilia and Flandre's facial expressions are priceless.

Rampaging Flandre

The follow-up the aforementioned flash.

Phantasmagoria of Flower View, Lucky Star ed.

Now if only there were more Touhou-themed flashes that have actual effort put into them. (Read as: Not spam)

Lucid Dream

Looks like someone's been influenced by Xenith800's Music.

1. High Def Audio & Video: I don't see much of a point to HD unless it's for Imax or those huge screen TVs that were made in the '90s. Truth is, I can't tell the difference between a 224-350 Kbit per second song from regular 96-192 aside from the former having much larger files. Plus, I'm also tired of seeing movies and game presented in High-Def when they don't really need it. In other words, I'd rather watch/listen/play something great in standard def over something shitty in HD.

2. Digital Distribution & Online Shopping: Look, I may agree that this has made it easier for newcomers and hard-to-find stuff to get noticed. However, I prefer a physical release of a game/movie/album/book over a digital release for very good reasons.
-I'm more into actual stores than Ebay, iTunes, Amazon, etc.
-Having an actual book/game/CD/DVD just gives me a sensation of achievement over the aforementioned.
-When a digital release gets pulled from the market, it's gone for good unless you turn to the black market.
To put it another way, digital distribution should stay in the world of freeware and shareware.

3. Johnathan Wrathborne: It's nice to see him back on here, because I thought he was funny and talented. All that time he spent posting on YouTube hasn't done him much good considering that:
A) Most people on there do nothing but goof off.
B) Nobody posts comments that are worthwhile.
I think there are a few things that he can improve upon in spite of his talents, such as better posing for example. That and he should stop using 4Chan memes as gag material. (He's funny without them.)

4. Apple Computer: Not to hate on Steve Jobs, but I'm sick of these damnable iPod variants and the competitors they have spawned. I mean, there's hardly any difference between the iPhone & iPad from their old PDA, the Newton aside from being spliced with aforementioned iPod with cell phones. Plus, the touchscreen interface is not very intuitive and I would prefer actual buttons/keyboard. Then again, I do like the Macs to an extent, but am not keen on buying one for the following reasons:
I. You can't custom build a Mac like you could a PC.
II. PCs have a much larger software library.
III. The userbase's majority reminds me of most (but not all) Firefox users: stupid and conceited.
I haven't tried Safari yet, so I can't comment on that.

5. Micwizard: I didn't get to review this when it first came out, but loved what Miccool did. Seriously, why do people bother with After Effects & ToonBoom* considering that all of this cartoon's effects that were done with just flash? (*=If it were for a school project or a 3D animation, I would be for that.) Aside from the already mentioned effecs, the animation and direction were of that ideal quality that many try to imitate, but only a few can achieve. However, if there is one thing I didn't like, it would be the music; Cage the Elephants doesn't belong in a movie like that.

6. Lucky Day Forever: I know a lot of people will hate me for this, but this wasn't very good. I believe that not everything needs to be 100 percent original, yet that doesn't excuse how boring and bland this was. The plot was extremely dull, the characters were a joke, the animation was inconsistent in quality (decent frame-by-frame offset by very seamy tweening), and the same goes for the voicework (Good voices by Sardonic Samurai with sub-par Polish voices). While it did have good direction and tech design, but the bad eclipsed those merits. In short, effort and original characters don't matter if the content sucks.

7. Old Cartoons: It's surprising that most channels these days don't air the golden age cartoons from the late '20s up until the early '50s aside from rare occasions. I get more enjoyment out of Fleischer's Popeye, Bob Clampett, Tex Avery, '40s Chuck Jones, early Hanna Barbera, Old Disney, Walter Lantz, Terrytoons to an extent, Jay Ward (George of the Jungle, Rocky & Bullwinkle), Van Beuren, and what Bill Melendez did with Charles Schultz over the majority of cartoons made throughout the past 35 years. Of course, there's DVD and Blu-Ray, but it would be nice if they properly restored them instead of screwing with the colors, needlessly cropping the top part off, etc. Finally, as said before, I think that people on here can learn something from these. (Read: the principles that went into them.)

8. FL Studio, Cubase, and Reason: I want to get an music making program that isn't completely reliant upon loops and default MIDI sounds. (Especially considering the Audio mods can't stand that shit.) Which one to get is what I'm trying to figure out, but I'm leaning towards Cubase at the moment. If anyone from the audio portal can help me out, it would be very appreciated.

Adobe's versions of Flash
I noticed that there are many people that are having export/publish troubles with Flash CSn. If CS3 or higher is giving you problems, try using the older versions of Flash if you still have them. If not, then good luck trying find them and getting them to work on Windows 7.

Bad Reviews
To all of those who got all upset when I write a negative review to a popular flash: Sorry for the pernicious presentation and to be honest I hate writing bad reviews. Normally, I usually like what I see/play/listen to, but then there's one movie/game that has excellent animation yet turns out to be lacking in the content/gameplay department. In other words, I can forgive one bad/bland submission, but not a consecutive string of them. With that being said, I try to provide tips on how to improve, along with being fair. (I'm not like Oney, Rtil, or the Street Fighter Chode guys.) In addition, excuse making isn't going to help people in this age. There's more to learn from Popeye than the following:
-Legendary Frog
-Video Comics such as Broken Saints (I find them to be extremely static and agonizing slow)
-The Latest Disney/Pixar/Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli/James Cameron movie.
-Ghost In The Shell, Cowboy Bebop, and Samurai Champloo
-Jazza
-The Simpsons, Seth McFarlane, and South Park
-Final Fantasy 7
-'80s cartoons
-Sirkowski, Snakejohnson, Ebolaworld, and Poxpower (Overrated losers with very little talent when it comes to writing and comedy.)
To put it another way: Study the right material!

Commercial Audio in movies and games
I usually don't mind commercial audio being used in flash submissions, but under the following conditions:
1. The song must fit the setting and situation.
2. It can't be the only music you use in a submission.
3. It just isn't right to post a copy-written song on the Audio Portal.
4. There comes a time when you must cast aside your music collection for better, royalty-free sound. Here's some musicians that are worth checking out:
Mod15/DJ Spire
DJ T3chnic
Xarnor-I found out about him from Xionico, and he makes kick ass metal tracks. Did I mention that he's also a programmer and 3D modeler?
Mitch Hammond (The Comet)
Box-Killa
Ian Jarvey (ObsidianSnow)
Snowfender
TimmyDope
Cutting Christ/Undead Fishtank
Elfire
Balderdact
Bunnymajs
Mister Scoops
Xenogenocide
Tom Olive
AukeSam-He's been on this site almost as long as I have.
Xalkie-From Road of the Dead.
Invisible Observer
BAZmotherfucker
Ocular Nebula
JonH2O-He's been on NG as long as I have, along with the next two.
SmokeShow
Durn
Edg3Runn3R
Hardcore SCM
DJ Harlock/Cross666
Hopeku
Crystal Jawz-A voice actor I found.
Arnas
Zenon/Black Noise/The Blackhawk
Oscillator Z/DJ Archetype

Hard Drivin'

This is the only handheld version of this arcade game, and it's quite an achievement considering the platform.

Hydra

Another Atari arcade port.

Lemmings

Of all of the handheld versions, this turned out to be the most accurate to the original Amiga game.

Viking Child

The Lynx equivalent to Wonder Boy in Monster Land.

Warbirds

A WWI flight game.

Fidelity Ultimate Chess Challenge

A nice chess game that I also used to own.

Switchblade II

A good port of the Amiga game, but it didn't have any music.

Xybots

Another arcade port, this time it's a precursor to Wolfenstein 3D. The arcade game in question had some cool robot voices.

Ninja Gaiden

The Lynx was the only system to get a port of the original Ninja Gaiden arcade game aside from the computer ports. Too bad they didn't get to port Ninja Gaiden II.

Alien Vs Predator

The only FPS that the Lynx ever had. Update: I goofed considering the existence of Cyber Virus.

If anyone is wondering why most of these videos have no sound; blame The Atari Lynx Channel for not recording any.
Update 2: Here's some Castle Crashers Fanart from ConceptArt.org's Davi Blight.

Little Samson (Seirei Densetsu Lickle)

Cocoron

Both of these games were created by the little-known developer Takeru and Samson was published by Taito (now part of Square Enix). By the way, I was wondering which of the following I should get: Reason, FL Studio, or Cubase?
