Innovative!

For something that was done in charcoal with a kneaded eraser; you did an excellent job on this. It may not have the best animation, nor the longest; but you got a daily first place, and you should be glad with what you got.

What I did like:
-Something that has not been done before.
-Nice song you chose.

What I didn't like:
-The Filesize, but that affects those with dial-up connections.

Overall: Is a ten out of ten up to your standards?

Captain responds:

10 out of 10 is well above my standards for this :P

And we really tried to push the file size lower but this was as low as we could get it, sorry dial-up people.

Not bad, but it needs improvement.

Knox, I would like to say "Welcome Back to NG." Unlike Legendary Frog, your return was needed. However, this needs a bit of improvement and I will have to explain. While I don't mind your blob characters, you could have animated their walk cycles a bit more. On the other hand, comedy doesn't need great animation, just enough to get the point across; and that's the way it should be on Newgrounds. As for the humor, mildly funny and simple. Nothing bad with that because not everything has to be like Rats on Cocaine (Dean Packis rules). However, your character voices need improvement, even though that's part of the joke; just like Eskimo Bob.

What I do like:
-Good image quality
-Mildly funny
-Good animation for clay

What I did not like:
-Voice acting could be better.
-The characters could use better walk and run cycles.

Overall: Knox, here's your seven out of ten. As for future NG submissions, you should do more Newgrounds Deathmatch cartoons; I know plenty of flash cartoonists/voice actors/characters who deserve to be put in the ring.

Knox responds:

well keep in mind that i made this claymaton a year ago haha. i still got like 6-7 more to upload.

I thought it was pretty funny.

While this cartoon had its dry moments, I laughed half the time. Plus, you made great use of various Audio portal songs. The graphics were good, but you could have made your characters blink once in a while to add to it. While this cartoon doesn't have any fancy hand-drawn animation, but it was enough to get the point across. The voice acting was excellent, but I think that you should've got one of your female friends to do some of the women. However, you still did a good job in the sound department.

What I liked:
-Well-drawn and sufficient animation
-Funny
-Great soundtrack
-Good voice acting
-Different from other comedy flash

What I didn't like:
-Some parts could have been funnier
-Not everyone will like your female voices

Overall: For proving that you can do (somewhat) original comedy; here's a nine out of ten.

BiffTheTimid responds:

Thanks for the well thought out review man. I appreciate the time you took to make it, and I'm glad you enjoyed it. I didn't really feel like having to direct other voice actors at the time, but my next projects will have other voice actors.

An excellent parody that also satirizes...

...at the same time. Even though I never saw Twilight (or Buffy the Vampire Slayer for that matter), I understand where you're coming from. I saw an anime called Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann and was boring & stupid as hell. As for the actual parody:

The animation, while not up to par with what you see on TV or in theaters, is enough to get the point across (the way it should be on NG). I also commend your lip synchronization skills, which were better that what you usually see here. Truth is, I'm getting sick of frame-by-frame/hand-drawn animation zealots who think they run the portal and would like to see them get lampooned. Plus, those gag posters were pretty damned witty although they could have used some more variation such as "Another Scary Movie Sequel/Knockoff" and "Popular Anime Movie That Is Boring As Hell Yet Gets Rave Reviews." The sound is another one of this parody's high points with excellent voice acting and enjoyable outro song. However, there's no sound effects, but you didn't need them for that would drown out the diologue. Speaking of which, it was really funny and made good use of the actual movie quotes.

What I liked:
-Witty
-Good art and animation
-Good voice acting
-Sums up my thoughts about Teeny-bopper flicks in a succinct and funny way.

What I didn't like:
-Posters could have used more variation.
-The easter eggs are superfluous, but those are just minor nitpicks.

Overall: Like Baron von Brunk, you are one of the pioneers of parody. Here's your ten for your sharp wit and smart writing.

Bobert-Rob responds:

Thank you for the compliments, good sir, I appreciate you taking your time to write all that! Glad you enjoy my work!

And yeah, I agree that the posters could've had more to them. But that was more of a background joke anyway, so I figured it'd be okay to only have three. Thanks again for watching!

Excellent and stylish!

This reminds me of the following:
A: Robot on Robot
B: 50s and 60s cartoons (in a good way)
I'm surprised that this hasn't made the top 50, but the score that it has is still worthy of celebration. Now with that out of the way, onto the review:
Artwise, it is well done and very stylish. To quote Bruce Lee (I don't know if he actually said that): "When one has no style, one can fit in with any style." Even though Hans Van Harken has a similar drawing style; the style in this video was much better due to the character designs used in it. Then there is the actual animation, which is a great blend of tweening and frame-by-frame. Reminds me of the earlier frame by frame stuff in the portal (2000-2002). So, there are no complaints from me in that department. I also loved that song you guys used; it matched the cartoon so well that it would rival the likes of Thriller.

What I liked about this:
-Great song
-Stylish
-Great animation
-Cool-looking robot

What I didn't like:
-People will accuse you of copying off of Baron von Brunk and Hans Van Harken.
-No subtitles.

Overall: For doing an excellent music video for a band I never heard of (and a kick ass one at that); here's a ten.

ZekeySpaceyLizard responds:

hans is a good friend of mine, i've animated once for him on a game he was making

What's with the flak?

This is better than most of the stuff on here. Sure it may be a bit derivative (seeing that it has things not dissimilar to Resident Evil and 24), but I have seen much worse. The acting in this one may not match Orson Welles or Mel Blanc; but for everyday people, it out does most low-budget, straight-to-video stories. Hell, you might give Dark Maze's V for Vile shorts a run for their money. I also appreciate the fact that you used audio portal music that isn't from Paragon X9 (and this is coming from someone who is a fan of his work). Plus, your selection added to the atmosphere that this short film was trying to build up. As for the camera work: I don't know anything about camera positioning, but you and your friends did a great job at that. I also liked the blood effects as well.

What I like:
-Decent acting for something made on a shoestring budget.
-Proper camera angles
-Appropriate music selection
-Good image quality
-Shoestring budget special effects done right.
-The length

What I didn't like
-People will start accusing you of ripping off Resident Evil and 24, but who are they to criticize?

Overall: I'm getting sick of people downrating this just because it's a live video. Hell, I have a rant about video files on my page. I am giving this a nine because I enjoyed it for what it is. This almost makes me want to do my own live video stuff.

Nice fight to the death, Doomhammr.

Why is it that every time someone submits a flash video such as this one, it gets flak for not being a cartoon. Even though I would like to see more hand-animated frame-by-frame, that won't stop me from enjoying this short. Now, onto the review: This may not be up to par with some 120,000-3,000,000 dollar indie film, much less a 5 million dollar or higher Hollywood movie in terms of effects and choreography; but for something made by three guys, they get the job done. While the acting could be a bit better, but seeing that you guys aren't professionals such as Dan Castellaneta (from Married with Children and the Simpsons) or Garry Chalk (from Beast Wars and the X-Files); I say that you pass for the effort.

What I liked:
-Good video quality (seeing that video files are huge).
-decent special effects for such a stringent budget.
-Good narration
-Something different

What I didn't like:
-Acting/choreography could be a bit better, but you and your friends are everyday people.

Overall: I think YouTube and Veoh's userbases need to learn a thing or two from you and your friends, Doomhammr. Therefore, here's a nine out of ten. Now if only people here weren't so hostile to flash videos.

Vulgar cartoon comedy done right!

This would make South Park, Family Guy, and all the stuff on Adult Swim look kid-friendly. One, the sex gags are fucking hilarious and I understood it all, too. (Note: One's ability to understand a joke doesn't matter if it's funny.) From female ejaculation to snuff, you have your bases covered here. Two, the sound is excellent. The music fit the situations that the Rats and Rabbits were in and I thank your friend for the effort he put in. The voice acting is how character voices in cartoons should be done. You pulled off every character with voice skills that are far better than most of this site's voice actors. Thirdly, while the animation wasn't the best this site has seen, it was enough to get the point across for this kind of comedy. Plus, I liked that part where Miss Molly shows Cage her nipple piercings with the saggy tits. What's next? Cage and Alice meet a couple of Peyote-addicted Iguanas or Chinchillas who shoot black tar heroin?

What I like:
-Sick and vulgar in a funny way. (This is how sex gags are done.)
-Excellent music
-Great voice acting
-No cheap gags (example: Y.T.M.N.D. or 4chan gags)
-Good art quality

What I didn't like:
-Animation could have been done better.

Conclusion: Dean Packis, you are one of the best internet cartoonists around. So, I am giving you a ten for this.

ApocalypseCartoons responds:

i love your reviews

Unnerving

Now this you don't see very often. A creepy, well-animated, thought out, atmospheric cartoon. Sure, there's no plot, but that would ruin it. I liked how you promoted your own site instead of some big-ass site that has 14 times as much cash as NG. And those were some really imaginitive monsters you made for this, and they remind me of the Ghostbusters cartoons, only much more unnerving.

What I liked:
-Creepy in the right ways
-Truly Imaginitive creature designs
-Excellent sound
-Proper mix of Hand animation and tweens

What I don't like:
-No Replay button

Conclusion: Bogleech this is your best cartoon so far, so how's about that ten out of ten?

Scythemantis responds:

Thanks! I'm always conscious of using a lot of tweens but the sorts of animals that inspired this do nothing but drift in place themselves, letting prey come to them or just waving their lures.

Ghostbusters was definitely a big influence on my style in general, it was THE thing I was into as a kid and pretty much solely for those goofy yet totally warped ghosts :)

You know how to impress people.

Even though I wrote a review to Metal Gear Funnies, I've decided to review your "deluxe edition" of your part. Firstly, the characters were well-animated and I loved that "Nerd from Hell" caricature even though some of my friends are fat nerds. The only problem with this is that there is an animation error where Snake throws the ball, and his Five 'o Clock Shadow is gone. Soundwise, the music selection was perfect, and the voices are well done. However, the sound of Snake's voice was off, but chances are that you don't give a shit. Then there's the content: You intended this to be satire against the deluge of videogame parodies and that therein lies the problem. Videogame parodies and sprite movies have been around for eight years, to the point where even satire like this has no effect on them. If you want to kill the medium that you consider an idiocity and get more people to create original cartoons; then you need to create more original cartoons and encourage originality.

What I liked about this:
-Great animation
-The Nerd from Hell caricature
-Great voice acting
-The Music selection

What I didn't like:
-One Continuity Error
-The fact that satire like this has no effect and won't contribute to anything.

Overall: Here's your nine out of ten, but you may want to continue your Project Freetown series instead of wasting time with satire.

rtil responds:

i'm not interested in having an effect on video game parodies, nor am i naive enough to have ever believed i would (although i have changed people's minds indirectly in the past). i do this because i enjoy it, just the same reason as anyone else would make the cartoons that they do. or at least i would hope.

I've been on here for over a decade and have a high level, so fucking what? Regarding my MSN and Trillian accounts: Request to be added.
