Nice atmosphere!

I concur with what Zanroth said on this regarding the lack of recognition. However, I would like to see your Bokeh technique applied to something more substantial.

Animation: The animation wasn't the real focus on this, but it was some decent FbF combined with clever tweening. As for the Bokeh effect, it was well done though I would advise you to go easy on the filters. Did I mention that you also made some nice color choices?
Music: It wasn't much, but that default midi was alright for a test such as this.
Content: This is the only thing that I didn't like about this. It wasn't bad by any means, but due to the fact that it was a tech demo; there wasn't much in terms of content. With that being said, you did a great job on setting an atmosphere with this.

[+]
-Nice use of texture
-Decent animation
-Good tone
-Fitting color selection

[-]
-Music could have been better in terms of atmosphere
-The fact that this is a demo

Overall: Here's an eight out of ten from me, and just keep at it. (4/5)

PIED3 responds:

Thank you very much for the detailed review! Fair comments throughout and nothing i disagree with you on. Cheers for the 8

That was fuckin' hilarious!

I have to admit, it takes a delicate hand to make anything Zelda-related to be funny these days; anyone else would have made a pile of shit out of this. Now why can't Artist Gamer Gal be this funny? (Though I did like what I saw of Asaroki.)

In terms of animation, you and Cory did a great job on that part. It was very fluid, had great layouts, and I liked those ero pictures in the meeting with Tingle. Of course, while this has some similarities between this and Egoraptor's recent stuff; there's enough differences to tell the two apart. Namely, a bit of Andrew Dickman influence.*
When it came to the audio, the voices were well done although the characters sounded alike. Even though this was intentional, it just doesn't feel right. On the other hand, the music was fitting for this cartoon.
Finally, the content of this was funny, but suffered from being incoherent. I understand that you were going for the unexpected kind of random, but I think you can learn a thing or two from golden-age cartoons. Plus, Ocarina of Time has been exhausted throughout Newgrounds history. I know plenty of games that haven't been covered. (RosenKreuzStilette, Star Ocean, Tales of Phantasia, Yume Nikki, etc.)

The Good:
-Funny
-Great animation without the bullshit
-Fitting music

The Bad:
-Incoherent
-The voices--while not bad--could have been more distinctive
-Overused subject

Overall: Here's a nine from me. (4.5/5) *=I sure wish he came back here.

Screwits responds:

Thank you for the well constructive review, haha im glad the animation didnt include bullshit.

Another Chris Voigt classic!

You are what so many people on who submit to NG should be, but only a scant few manage to maintain that level of quality over the years. Plus, I like how you referenced your old cartoon "Crabs Happened" in this one. After seeing so many lame-ass shit cartoons throughout the past few months; it's finally nice to see something worthy of the front page. With that being said, I'll get started...

When it comes down to it, the animation is just as great as it was the last episode. I love how you had the balls to animate in a style that many consider to be ill-suited for animation; anyone else that had to do so would either give up or fucked it up considerably. Plus, I like your cautious use of filters and the decision not to submit this as MP4. (Having to wait for it to buffer is not my idea of fun.) Of course, this isn't just about the animation since the audio and content are also well done. First, the music was just as great as the rest of your songs and they fit the situation perfectly. In addition, the voice acting is also excellent since they are both well-done and distinctive. There is nothing else to say about that, so let me comment on the content. I'm going to be honest with you: it was funny as hell and the fighting was exceptional. I think you just outdid the vast majority of FluidAnims members aside from SunnyGOES* when it came down to Gooseman fighting the Walrus man. Plus, you did a great job on mixing combat and comedy together. In other words, it's just as great as the last episode.

What was good:
-Excellent voice acting and music
-Great animation
-Funny and superbly directed
-Original

What wasn't so Good:
-Nothing really

Overall: You, Krinkels, and Adam Phillips deserve to have more fans than Legendary Frog. Here's a ten from me and I'll look forward to more Greasy Moose cartoons.

Sexual-Lobster responds:

wow, beast of a review. thanks!

Not bad.

I'll be honest with you, it was kind of funny although Zelda has been done to death. However, it was still decently made for something so short.

Animation: This had some decent animation for something so short, and you put some thought into giving Link weight. However, the very end where he hit the ground felt very wooden and tweeny. I think you ought to look up Preston Blair's book on how to animate when you get the chance. With that being said, you did a good job on the backgrounds.
Sound: Clever use of the OoT soundtrack and Paul McCartney's Junk, and the sound effects were also well-chosen.
Content: This may not be the best Zelda-spoof on here, but I got a couple of laughs out of this. Unfortunately, Ocarina of Time has been done so many times to the point where I want something new. Suggestion: Look up the cartoons that were made by Bob Clampett and Tex Avery to see how they did things, along with the skills that went into them.

-Kind of funny
-Decent animation
-Small filesize
-Good direction
-Nice music selection

Overall: Here's an eight from me. (4/5)

WooleyWorld responds:

Well jesus, I appreciate the review. :]

Proof that good content supercedes polished animation.

Jeremy and Viper Studios are right since this has to be the best Beebo cartoon to date. Fabulous999, I think that you and AzureSt0ne deserve more name recognition than Legendary Frog, Artist Gamer Gal, and most of those "Great animation, but that's it" cartoons that have been plaguing the Top 50 since 2008. (Nin10Doh!, Larry, Tarboy, etc.) That, and I would like to thank you for having the one of most consistently good series on here. Now, on with the review...

When it comes down to it, it's still the same mix of photo heads, plain flash graphics, and simplified backgrounds. However, you have improved on the actual animation when Harry throws the dismembered remains out the window. As much as I like this series' poorly-done-on-purpose style; learning basic animation skills wouldn't hurt. Then there's the audio, which was done magnificently.
You and your friend did an excellent job on the voices, and the music was fitting. Finally, the content of this piece is further proof that the HD video/After Effects/ToonBoom craze can eat shit. The writing and direction in this were superb. To put it another way, I was laughing hysterically at this from beginning to end.

What I like:
-Funny
-Original
-Great direction
-Well written
-Kick-ass voice acting
-Fitting music

What I didn't like:
-The fact that this will get panned by superficial dipshits who masturbate to the latest glorified tech demo.

Overall: I think that you deserve a nine for kicking major ass with this one. (4.5/5)

fabulous999 responds:

I also think I deserve more recognition, but instead I will be happy to accept money, women and pulled pork slathered with delicious barbecue sauce with a side of potato salad and maybe some corn bread wouldn't hurt.

That was fucking funny! (This is for both parts.)

I have to admit that you are one of the most divisive authors on NG. However, whatever you lack in drawing finesse, you make up for it with humor and sincerity. (The latter is something that's lacking in top-rated submissions these days.) If Flash CS3-5.5 is giving you shit with .swf export; try downgrading to Flash MX, MX 2004, or 8.

When it comes to the animation, it's the same badly-drawn-on-purpose style that many either love or loathe. Of course, I think you ought to study up on basic drawing and animation principles. Trust me, it helps a lot yet this cartoon's authenticity and humor more than make up for that. (I know a site full of drawing and animation resources if you're interested.) The sound--while flawed--still gets the point across. You did a great job on selecting the music, and the actual voice acting was good. Then again, the recording quality was really scratchy and I will also recommend that you either get:
-a better microphone
-a pop filter
Finally, the content of this was fucking hilarious though I never played Kingdom Hearts. I was laughing throughout both parts, and I kind of like that looping music video. On the other hand, putting that loop at the preloader screen rather than the end was a mistake on your behalf. It contributed to that larger filesize, and therefore made loading more tedious. Plus, that montage segment at the end seemed awkward and random. By the way, if you do anymore game spoofs I will suggest that you check out:
-Tales of Phantasia
-Star Ocean
-Time Slaughter
-Touhou Project
-Psycho Dream
-Majyuuou
-Romancing SaGa

What I did like:
-Funny
-Nice music selection
-Good voice acting
-Underused subject

What I didn't like:
-That looping dance segment should have been a bonus feature rather than a preloader screen.
-Scratchy sound quality
-The badly-done-on-purpose look is starting to get stale.
-The montage segment at the end seemed random.

Overall: Roger, how would you like a nine from me? (4.5/5)

RogerregoRRoger responds:

Actually, This movie is made 20% in Cs3 and 80% in Flash 8. I'm an old fashioned guy.

Badly drawn on purpose? Heh. Sadly, purpose or not, this is how I draw.
I am improving with each movie, but at this moment, this is pretty much my skill set.

The music montage is kind of a tradition now with all my Kingdumb Hearts videos.
Same with the preloader thing.
Tough the good news is that part 3 will barely have either of them, mostly because the main movie is going to be tough by itself.

Thanks for the review.

It could have been funny, but wasn't.

I'm not giving you this score because of my disdain towards Jaxxy. Rather, it's because while it had potential to be funny, the execution was lame. With that being said...

Animation: You did a great job on this part, so there's no complaints on that regard.
Sound: While the voice acting was good, there was no backgrounds music which kills the comedy that you were aiming for. Therefore, I suggest that you check out the following Audio Portal songs:
JonH2O-Lookin' Like A Dick
Kurotoko-PoRnO JoE
Porncrank-My Pussy
Mister Scoops-Haunt A Bitch
Waterflame-Whatever!
Content: It's original, which may be nice. However, your jokes seem to have no thought into either the delivery and indication. Plus, it also felt drawn out. Another suggestion is that you study old cartoons ('27-'53), The Three Stooges, and the works of Dean Packis (Rats on Cocaine, Father Tucker, and Premie Petey).

{+}
-Good voice acting
-Good animation
-Original

{-}
-Unfunny, although it had potential.
-No music

Overall: Here's a six for trying. (3/5)

Jae responds:

I don't dislike you because of the low score and poorly written review. I dislike you for your disdain towards Jaxxy. She is a very cool person and one of the few animators willing to be personal with fans.

Flat, predictable, and predictable.

Laura, I think you need to read this. You don't seem to have any knowledge of comedic timing or context, but have been convinced that you do. In addition, the fact that you have more of these on YouTube isn't a good sign and makes me think that you're nothing more than a modern-day carpetbagger. However, I am going to be fair...

Graphics: This is one of the two merits this has. You have nice backgrounds, and the animation is excellent. However, if there's something I learned: it takes more than great animation to make a great cartoon.
Audio: The music was good, and it fit the situation. However, the voice acting sounded labored and I think that Dexter never saw a cartoon from animation's golden age (1927-1953). Plus, screaming has been done to death. Therefore, I suggest that you watch those golden age cartoons to see how Mel Blanc, Jack Mercer, etc. did it.
Content: I may be a fan of game spoofs, but the ammount of derivative in yours is ridiculous. The aforementioned screaming, the growing up montage, house on fire, it all felt uninspired. This is exacerbated by the fact that they can be seen from a nautical mile. Look, I understand what you're trying to do, but you're not doing a very good job at it. As said before, go watch those aforementioned cartoons because there's a lot more you can learn from them than Legendary Frog, the Zirbes bros., Kirbopher, or Sirkowski. Either that or team up with someone who can do something funny such as Wooden Sneakers, Catoblepas, PeixeAquatico, or Golfinho.

The Good:
-Great animation
-Fitting music

The Bad:
-Uninspired
-Unfunny
-Bad voice acting

Overall: I have no right to give you a zero, but felt that the lack of caustic criticism was sorely needed. Here's a five out of ten and you would be better off if you let the YouTube thing go. (2.5/5)

ArtistGamerGal responds:

I've never been called a carpetbagger before.. haha thanks? Anyway glad you liked some things about it. Although this was actually written by Dexter Manning and not me. But his humor is wildly popular all over the internet, so I'm not sure everyone would agree with you on it being unfunny. But thanks for the feedback :)

Not bad, but could have been better.

While this had a lot of effort that was put into it, I wasn't really impressed. However, I am going to be fair with this.

Graphics: I really liked what Matt did with the backgrounds, as well as the style that was used. However, aside from a few scenes, there wasn't much animation although you did a good job on the facial expressions. As for said animation, it was decent.
Sound: Zack Striefel did a good job on the music, but in case you haven't noticed; Natalie (Dragon Knight Tara) also happens to be a composer. Speaking of the voices, they were good although not very distinctive. However, I'll let this slide since this happens to be a standalone short.
Content: This is where it starts to falter a bit. On one hand, your friend did an excellent job on the dialog, as well as your story was original and well-written. On the other, the direction doesn't feel right considering that this was too dependent on dramatic angles/close-ups even though the pacing was good. I found it a bit awkward to follow, and they contributed to the middling animation quality. Tyler, I will recommend that you study old cartoons for a bit such as Fleischer's Popeye and the works of Bob Clampett; there's more to learn from them than whatever Disney & Pixar have been making.

The Good:
-Great backgrounds with a unique style
-Fitting music
-Decent voices
-Original
-Nice tone

The Bad:
-Not much in terms of animation
-Too reliant upon close-ups

Overall: For those involved, I will give you a seven for the effort that went into this. (3.5/5)

Tyler responds:

I don't disagree with anything you said; thanks for the criticism.

I was going for more of a cinematic, less animated approach due to time restraints, though. Not all problems need to be solved with animation.

Not bad at all, but can use some improvements.

For a second submission, this shows that you have a bit of potential. With that being said...

When it comes to the graphics, you did a great job on those paintings. However, there wasn't much animation besides simple tweening. I understand that you had requirements and a deadline, but the clouds could have been better shape tweened. (Study how shape hints work.) The sounds were quite fitting, although you could have credited the music in this. Finally, when it comes to content, it's not bad for a simple loop. However, it's just a loop and it could have used a preloader.

The Good:
-Nice paintings
-Fitting sound
-Original

The Bad:
-No preloader
-Could have been better animated if it weren't for your deadline.
-The fact that it's a loop
-Needs music credit.

Overall: Here's a seven from me, and keep practicing. You'll be a top NGer rather quickly. (3.5/5)

Midgard229 responds:

thanks alot, thats very helpful. Honestly I wish i knew how to make it stop looping and how to make a pre-Loader but he didnt teach us that yet sadly -_-. maybe i will fix this animation by using Youtube or tutorials or something.

about the music your right, I will add it to credits.

and your right on the cloud shape tweening, I will research the Shape hints, because when that stuff happens it upsets me :P, i got it to look ok but not how i wanted.

and totally rright, i wanted to do more animation but the deadline ofcourse, deadline being the day after i finished it and the time constraint i was allowed. Im'a work up for it on the next project!!

I've been on here for over a decade and have a high level, so fucking what? Regarding my MSN and Trillian accounts: Request to be added.
